Major Gift from Union Minister Gadkari to Madhya Pradesh: ₹400 Crore Ropeway to be Built in Pachmarhi

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has announced a significant gift for Madhya Pradesh — the construction of a ropeway at the state’s only hill station, Pachmarhi. The ropeway will connect devotees to the famous Mahadev Temple located atop Chauragarh, the second-highest peak in MP.

This development will greatly ease the journey for pilgrims, who currently have to undertake a steep and difficult 3-kilometer uphill climb to reach the temple. With the ropeway in place, the hours-long trek will be reduced to just minutes, offering both convenience and safety.
Darsan Singh Choudhary, Member of Parliament from Narmadapuram, expressed his gratitude to Minister Gadkari and shared a video on his Facebook account regarding the announcement. He reaffirmed his commitment to the holistic development of Pachmarhi, emphasizing its religious, cultural, and natural heritage.

Gadkari approved ₹400 crore for the project, which includes the construction of the ropeway and a dedicated parking facility. In his statement, Choudhary also mentioned future plans to develop an airstrip in Pachmarhi and promote the Anhoni forest area near Pipariya as a picnic spot.
Every year, thousands of devotees visit Chauragarh’s Mahadev Temple during Mahashivratri, offering heavy tridents (trishuls) as part of their prayers. The upcoming ropeway will make their spiritual journey far more accessible and comfortable.
